The Glendale Unified School District consists of 20 elementary schools, 4 middle schools, 5 high schools, one special-needs school, and Verdugo academy, for independent and homeschool students grades kindergarten to 8. Many of the schools are named after important historical figures, such as Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, Abraham Lincoln Elementary School, John Marshall Elementary School, Theodore Roosevelt Middle School, Woodrow Wilson Middle School and Herbert Hoover High School.
Glendale is also home to 15 different private schools, including three private kindergarten schools, and three schools covering the full range of grades, from kindergarten/grade 1 to grade 12. The schools are all co-ed, with the exception of Holy Family Girls High School. Glendale Community Colleges is Glendale's key post-secondary education facility, with other institutions including Glendale Career College, Moro Beauty College, Glendale University College Of Law, and Kensington University. Specialty institutions include Northwest College of Medical and Dental Assistants and the Hypnotism Training Institute of Los Angeles.
