Curious buyers might wonder just what kind of properties they can expect to
find in Glendale California. Is the city a haven for the wealthy, as is the
case in nearby Los Angeles? Do the neighbourhoods resemble Halton Hills real
estate, or are they more akin to what you might find in Brooklyn? In this article,
we are going to take a look at what you can expect to find, and where, in the
city of Glendale.
Condominiums and apartments
As with most major cities around the globe, Glendale has seen a big increase
in the number of condominium developments going up over the last couple of decades.
Most of these developments, like the Liberty Towers in Toronto, are being built
in the downtown area of the city.
A result of the development of these complexes has been a rejuvenation of Glendale's
downtown core. As was the case with many major cities in the United States,
Glendale's downtown was getting quite run down. Gang violence and project
style housing were prominent features, until a major push for neighborhood renovations
was started about 15 years ago.
The results of those efforts are starting to be seen today in downtown Glendale.
Here, you will find complexes that any Oakville real estate agent would be proud
to show her own clients. Of particular note is the Americana at Brand. This
complex includes condos and apartments as well as restaurants, shopping opportunities,
and a huge Cineplex theatre.
Neighborhoods
As with so many California cities, Glendale neighborhoods run the full gamut
from the poverty struck and run down to secluded havens for the wealthy. You
will find several neighborhoods which feature mansion style homes, gated communities,
and high end private schools. The wealthiest of these include Mountain Street
and Cumberland Road, where the average price of a home is well over a million
dollars.
Some of the neighborhoods include houses with price tags comparable to what
you might find if you were looking at different pieces of Scarborough Ontario
real estate. Many of these neighborhoods lack specific names, instead being
identified by their zip code numbers (91204, 91210, and so on). As a general
rule in Glendale, the farther out one gets from the downtown area the higher
the prices of single family homes become.
As is the case with many cities in California and the rest of the United States
today, Glendale is experiencing a stale spot as far as the housing market is
concerned. Generally, homes will be priced lower than similar properties in
Canada in particular, whether it is a house or a condominium. North York residents
might be surprised to learn that the condo they sell allows them to purchase
a similar home in Glendale, with no mortgage and money left over!
